Is Reading a Struggle for Your Child?

Reading is such a fundamental skill, and when it doesn’t come easily, it can impact so much more than just schoolwork. You might see your child’s confidence dip, their enthusiasm for learning wane, or even hear them express feelings of inadequacy. The joy of reading, of getting lost in a story, might seem distant. As a parent, your heart aches to see them struggle, and you’re searching for effective strategies to unlock their reading potential and bring back that spark.

DOES YOUR CHILD:

      • Mix up sounds and syllables (e.g., “aminal” for “animal”)?
      • Avoid reading or writing activities?
      • Struggle to learn new vocabulary?
      • Frequently guess words instead of sounding them out?
      • Read slowly and without flow?
      • Have difficulty remembering and understanding what they’ve read?
      • Find it hard to decode new words?
      • Make inconsistent spelling mistakes?
      • Confuse left and right?
      • Hesitate with word retrieval (“the um, thing…”)?
      • Show frustration or anxiety related to reading and writing?
      • Have a family history of dyslexia?

If the answer is YES to 4 or more of these Red Flag behaviors, the root cause of their reading, spelling, and comprehension challenges could lie in underlying cognitive skills. We strongly suggest that your child could benefit from targeted support to address their reading struggles. Early intervention is key to building a strong foundation and fostering a lifelong love of reading.

Success Stories

From “A Little Bit” to Reading on My Own!

Brain Training at BEC was fun because of the procedures. I like the tabletop exercises that has letter sounds. For the digital, I like the memory game.

Brain Training helped me read faster and better. Before brain training, I knew how to read a little bit. I needed help before with answering homework. But now I try to do them on my own.

Stronger Reading Skills, Better Grades

I first heard about brain training from a post that my mom saw on Instagram. It was something she thought could help me for when I take college entrance exams. At first I wasn’t sure that this was something I wanted to do. But I decided to take the assessment anyways. Through this we learned that there were plenty of reasons behind my struggles with reading, writing essays, memorizing and many more.

After doing BEC over the summer, I noticed there were improvements specifically in my academics. I was able to retain my lessons from class better which translated to better scores in tests and performance tasks. Overall, brain training was challenging but in the long run I definitely think that it helped me become a better student.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reading difficulties often stem from underlying cognitive skills weaknesses, such as auditory processing, visual processing, attention, memory, and processing speed. Our programs target and strengthen these foundational cognitive abilities that are crucial for effective reading.

Unlike traditional reading interventions that focus solely on reading techniques, our approach targets the core cognitive skills that enable reading. By strengthening these underlying abilities through engaging and adaptive exercises, we create lasting improvements in reading fluency, comprehension, and overall learning.

Our programs are adaptable and can be tailored to address the cognitive needs of children across a range of ages and reading abilities, from early learners (kindergarten) to those facing more significant challenges.

Our assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that takes about 1 hour to complete. It's designed as a series of engaging "brain games" to assess key cognitive skills like attention, memory, processing speed, reasoning, and visual/auditory processing. This helps us identify your child's unique cognitive profile and pinpoint specific areas of strength and weakness that may be contributing to their reading struggles.

After the assessment, our Center Director will personally explain the results to you in detail, providing clear insights into your child's cognitive profile. You will also receive a comprehensive written report outlining these findings. Based on the results, we will recommend the most suitable research-based program and personalized approach to help your child.

You can easily schedule an assessment by messaging or calling us at +639563121212, filling out the Book an Assessment form, or emailing us at brainexerciseclub@gmail.com. We'll be happy to answer any further questions and find a convenient time for your child's assessment.
